Acknowledgement of Country

We live and work on stolen land.

This business was founded on Wadawurrung Country.

We acknowledge the Wadawurrung people as the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land on which we operate, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

We recognise that sovereignty over this land was never ceded, and that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have practiced the work of caring for Country for tens of thousands of years before made by multitudes existed. This was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

We conduct business throughout Australia and the world, and we acknowledge the Traditional Owners of all the lands on which we operate. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present, and to all First Nations peoples.

An Acknowledgement is a small thing. It is also not enough on its own. We continue to think about how the way we work — who we hire, who we partner with, what we publish, where our money goes — can move beyond words.

About this page

This page was written in good faith by the founder of made by multitudes, Matt Smith, an Indigenous Australian descended from the Gubbi Gubbi people.

If you are unsure whose Country you are on, the AIATSIS Map of Indigenous Australia is a starting point. For an authoritative answer, contact the relevant local Traditional Owner organisation or land council directly.
